Comprehensive Pilates Certification

Welcome to teacher training! This program is a 500 hour comprehensive. Graduates will receive a Comprehensive Pilates education covering all apparatus (Mat, Reformer, jumpboard, Springboard, Cadillac, Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and Magic Circle). This comprehensive will prepare you to test for the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP) exam and teach in the setting of preference (group, private, small group training). Along with the certification each graduate receives, special focus to injury modification and successful teaching skills/etiquette that will be paramount. Companion workshops of pilates friendly modalities will accompany this program (Suspension Training, Myofascial Release, Functional Movement). 

 

Comprehensive Program hours: 

 

70 Hours in Person - to be completed at the host studio for 12 days. If you miss one day you may make it up at a future training free of cost, provided arrangements are made in advance.

 

100 Hours of Observation - one of the most helpful teaching tools is observation. Your observation hours may begin the moment you sign up for training.

 

150 Hours of Self Practice - Learn by doing! 

 

100 Hours of Practice Teaching - Private training, online teaching, small groups - this is the meat and potatoes of your journey. 

 

54 Hours of Assistant Teaching - Get your feet wet with 10 mins of teaching a live class. Stay to observe the rest of the class and then get professional feedback from an experienced instructor.  

50 Hours of Home Study - This includes Pilates Apparatus Assignments, Anatomy, Vocabulary, Cueing, and Joseph Pilates history. 

 

10 Hours of Class Programming - Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced multi-apparatus classes will be put together and critiqued by your Master Trainer. 

 

30 Hours of Unique/Injured Population Focus - Each teacher will have the opportunity to take a deeper dive into a unique circumstance, focus, or injury to excell with a specialty.

 

3 Hours Written Exam

 

3 Hours Practical Exam

 

*A college Anatomy course or Anatomy in Clay or Anatomy in 3D transcript may substitute for 50 hours of practice teaching or 50 hours of observation. 

 

**Apprentice teaching at your studio may count toward deficits in any category of hours. This substitution is at the express permission of and at the discretion of the Master Trainer.
